Kinder/TK Summer Play Dates

Click here to be added to our email distribution list

Incoming TK and Kinder student and families are invited to monthly summer playdates as a way to introduce children to their future school and classmates. This is a great opportunity to meet new school friends and find out more about your school. All play dates are held on the kindergarten playground, which is located near Rooms A & B, at the corner of Booksin Avenue and Dry Creek Road. Please note that restroom facilities are not available during kinder play dates.

Kinder/TK Ice Cream Social

Incoming TK and Kinder students can find out which teacher they have, then meet their teacher and classmates while having ice cream. This event typically takes place on the Monday before the first day of school.

Welcome Coffees

The first week of school BESCA hosts a welcome back coffee for returning parents in the Cafeteria. Come to catch up with other parents and to find out about some of the new things happening at school.

That same week BESCA also hosts a welcome coffee for new parents in the Cafeteria. Meet other new parents and your BESCA board members. It's a great opportunity to find out about the wonderful programs and events that happen throughout the year at Booksin.

Please feel free to attend either if you can't make one or the other.

Family Movie Night

We host a family movie night once or twice a year. The event can be held outdoors or in the cafeteria, depending on weather. This event is a fun and relaxing way to spend an evening with your family and friends from Booksin.

Walkathon and Silent Auction

Our annual Walkathon is held in October and is the largest community event of the year. It serves as our primary fundraiser, while encouraging students to walk to earn money for their school and earn prizes. There are lots of things to do at Walkathon besides walk, including a variety of food, Teacher Fun Drawing, Fun with Friends, and a large Silent Auction with a wide variety of items you can bid on to support BESCA.

Celebrate Booksin

Celebrate Booksin is an adult-only spring evening event to build community and raise funds for projects above and beyond our normal operating budget. This event has a live action, DJ and lots of food. Learn more about Celebrate Booksin.

Garden Farmstands

BESCA supports a working community garden that is used as an outdoor classroom for our students. Twice a year, the garden holds a Farmstand to sell produce from the garden or seeds & seedlings planted by Booksin students. These farmstands are a great way to see the Booksin garden and show your support for the hard work of our garden volunteers and our Booksin students.

Parent-Only Socials

In September, BESCA hosts a parent-only social at Hapa's Brewing Company in Willow Glen. This event is a great way to meet other Booksin parents while having a fun evening out.

Big Week

Big Week is part of our Project Cornerstone program. During Big Week, there are a variety of activities and fun for the kids focused on helping them build resiliency skills and develop character.

Book Fair

We partner with the renowned Hicklebee's Bookstore on Lincoln Ave to transform our library into a mini bookstore. Students, families, and friends can buy a wide variety of books for kids and adults. A portion of the proceeds goes back to Booksin to use towards new books for the library. This event generally takes place before the holidays, and is a great time to stock up on gifts!

Book Exchange

We want to encourage our students to keep reading over the holidays. Instead of buying new books, your children can trade with other kids at school so everyone gets new books to read for free! Our book exchange is held shortly before the winter break, and students from all grades can bring up to 5 books to trade in the exchange. For each book they donate, they get to pick one book to take home.

San Jose Giants Night

Each year Booksin students, staff, families, and friends have the opportunity to attend a San Jose Giants game and participate in various on-field activities during the big game! A portion of the ticket sales benefits BESCA.

Earth Day Seedling Sale

Each year on Earth Day, our Bulldogs Backyard Garden hosts an annual seedling sale. In early spring, all of the children at school plant veggie seedlings and starts during garden lessons as part of a lesson about seeds. After caring for them and helping them grow, the Garden Guardians, our upper grade garden students, host a sale to sell the seedlings and delicious lemonade to our community, with proceeds going toward the garden.

Art Show

Our art program, Art@Booksin, hosts an annual Art Show in May. The cafeteria is transformed into an elegant art gallery showcasing artwork from every student at our school. This event coincides with the spring Open House and is a favorite for many students and families!

Family Fun Night

Family Fun Night is a Booksin tradition that the students look forward to ever year. This end of year celebration takes place at Booksin, and offers games, music, a cake walk, food trucks, and more! Kids love to play games for prizes and walk the cake walk to try to win a sweet treat. Food trucks offer a variety of dinner options, and families can celebrate the end of the year together.

Fifth Grade Promotion

Each year we celebrate the accomplishments of our 5th grade graduating class with several promotion activities, including a day at Golf Land, a promotion breakfast and a promotion ceremony on the last day of school.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Luncheon

We host an annual Teacher Appreciation Luncheon as part of Teacher Appreciation week in May. The luncheon provides an opportunity for our teachers to enjoy a nice lunch together as we celebrate their hard work and dedication to our students.
