DaytimeCampout:Families are encouraged to “set up camp” on the grass field and on locations along the walk course. Plan to bring folding chairs or a blanket, and if you would like, umbrellas or pop-up tents for shade. Create a family meeting place and rest zone!
Safety: We will have dozens of volunteers on the course during the day. Safety is our foremost priority. However, we rely on parents to keep an eye on their own students and children. Watch your students! Keep them hydrated! Scroll down for additional safety information.
Clothing: Students should wear loose-fitting shorts and their new Walkathon shirt received at Registration. Check the forecast. It may be cool at 9:00 am, but the temperature will rise.
Footwear: Students should wear the most comfortable shoes possible. Keep them on! Bring spare socks. Sometimes a change just feels better. Keep shoes, socks, and clothes dry to avoid chafing.
LostandFound: Lost and Found is located at the Volunteer Desk. After Walkathon, remaining items will be given to the school’s Lost and Found bins.
Ticket Sales: Be sure to purchase your tickets online or at Walkathon at the Ticket Booth. Tickets are $1.00 each. Tickets are used to purchase food, drinks, and buy a hairdo at the Crazy Hair Booth since cash is not accepted.
Pledges, Registration & Lap Card
Pledge Card: This is the form each child gets on September 27th to record pledges. These pledges must be entered online prior to Walkathon. The morning of WAT each student must bring the completed Pledge Card, including all pledges entered online, in order to walk and earn prizes!
Registration: Registration begins at 8:30 am. Students will turn in their pledge card to receive their Lap Card. After registering, take your Lap Card to the T-Shirt Booth to get your free shirt!
Lap Card: The Lap Card is worn around the neck and used to log laps/miles and incentives. Students must protect and maintain their Lap Card for the rest of the day! If it is lost, it cannot be replaced (and the record of miles walked is also gone forever). After each lap your student completes, be sure they stop to get the Lap Card punched, tracking each lap walked. After each mile completed, students may choose to stop to get an additional per-mile award token that they can display proudly. They may also earn free food treats during the day after completing certain miles. When your student is finished walking at the end of the day, turn in your Lap Card at the Prize Area, and collect the Incentive Prizes your student has earned for every five miles walked! Do not leave campus with your Lap Card!
