School Events
BESCA is dedicated to fostering a strong sense of community by hosting and supporting a variety of exciting and enjoyable events throughout the school year. While some of these events also serve as fundraisers for BESCA, the majority are break-even initiatives designed to foster connections and engagement within our school community. Through these activities, BESCA aims to create an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone feels welcome and involved.

Summer and Fall Events
TK/Kinder Summer Playdates
Incoming TK and Kindergarten students and their families are invited to our summer playdates in July and August. These events help introduce children to their future school and classmates, providing a great opportunity to make new friends and learn more about the school. All playdates are held on the kindergarten playground, near Rooms A & B, at the corner of Booksin Avenue and Dry Creek Road. Please note that restroom facilities are not available during these playdates.
Welcome Back Parent Meetings with BESCA
During the first week of school, BESCA hosts parent welcome back meetings both in-person in the cafeteria and virtually on Webex. Hear from the Principal and BESCA Board about volunteer opportunities, upcoming events, and exciting new developments at school.
TK/Kinder Popsicle Pop-in Meet and Greet
Incoming TK and Kindergarten students will find out who their assigned teacher is and have the chance to meet their new classmates, while enjoying a sweet treat. This is a casual, afternoon event and usually occurs two days before the first day of school.
Walkathon and Silent Auction
Held annually in mid-October, the Walkathon is our biggest community event of the year and our main fundraiser. Students walk to raise money for Booksin and earn individual prizes. Besides walking, enjoy a variety of activities, including delicious food, the Teacher Fun Drawing, bidding on Fun with Friends events, and a large Silent Auction with a wide range of items to bid on, all supporting BESCA.
Merch ‘N Munch
Join us on the first Friday of the school year for some after school fun on the playground! Mingle with other parents and students while enjoying snacks and Kona Ice, available for purchase. Don't miss the chance to grab your Booksin spirit wear and kick off the new school year in style!
Fall Parent Social
BESCA invites all parents and guardians to an adults-only social at Hapa's Brewing Company in Willow Glen. This event offers a fantastic opportunity for new and returning Booksin parents to connect in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. Enjoy craft beers, good conversation, and a casual night out as you build new friendships and strengthen our school community.
Family Movie Night
Join us for our family movie nights, held once or twice a year either outdoors or in the cafeteria, depending on the weather. Children can explore various booths, learn about different cultures, and collect stickers to complete their "passports" for a special prize. It's a wonderful night of learning, sharing, and celebration!
Big Week
Big Week is a key part of our Project Cornerstone program. Throughout the week, students engage in fun activities that help build resilience and develop character. Activities take place on campus during the normal school day.
Garden Farmstand
BESCA supports a thriving community garden that serves as an outdoor classroom for our students. In the spring, our Garden Leads host a garden farmstand, selling a variety of items such as produce, seeds, and seedlings grown by Booksin students. This is a fantastic opportunity to explore the Booksin garden and show your support for the dedication of our garden volunteers and students.
Booksin Bash
The Booksin Booksin is an adult-only evening event for parents and guardians to enjoy a fun evening out while raising additional funds for BESCA’s programs. This event includes delicious food, a live auction, DJ and lots of dancing!

Family Fun Night is a beloved Booksin tradition eagerly anticipated by students every year. This on-campus end-of-year celebration features games, music, a cake walk, food trucks, and more! Children enjoy playing games for prizes and participating in the cake walk for a chance to win sweet treats. With a variety of dinner options from food trucks, families can come together to celebrate the conclusion of another school year.
Art Show
Our art program, Art@Booksin, presents its annual Art Show each May. The cafeteria is transformed into a stunning art gallery featuring works from every student at our school. This event, held during the spring Open House, is a beloved tradition enjoyed by students and families alike!
Sporting Events
We have a wealth of fantastic local sports teams right here in San Jose! Gather your Booksin buddies and join us at one of our school-organized sporting events featuring teams like the San Jose Giants, San Jose Barracudas, the Earthquakes Soccer Team, and Bay FC. A portion of the ticket sales will benefit BESCA, so come cheer on our local teams and support our school community at the same time.
